Learning is a continuous process and I have been fortunate enough to be a part of an organization which lays major emphasis on individual growth and also which gives ample opportunities to an individual to showcase their talent.
The best part has been the series of training programmes and workshops which have been organized to enhance sales skills, inventory management skills etc. which have really been helpful to the entire sales team in general and for me in particular. That is the reason we were able to get a very good rate for the various conference organized at our Hotel Clarks Amer, thereby increasing the profitability margin for the Hotel.
The other aspect which I really appreciate, has been the opportunities given by the management to me by deputing me for sourcing properties for expansion at various locations all over the country. This has helped me in understanding the various aspects of hotel operations and I am sure I am able to do justice with the responsibility bestowed upon me by our highly charismatic ED Mr.Apurv Kumar, and will continue to achieve higher goals in times to come.

‘An Elephantine Tale of Torture at Amber’, ‘Pink City not Known to keep Jumbos in Pink of Health’, ‘Vets F ail to Save Injured Elephant at Amber’, ‘Third Elephant Dead in a Month’, ‘8 Hour Long Battle Fails to Save Jumbo’—these and many more headlines hit the newspapers through August-September.
While Jaipur was busy celebrating the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, an ill fated jumbo—Maina-- was dying in another corner who went berserk and later died due to overdose of tranquillizers. Wildlife lovers and animal experts attribute it to ill treatment and overwork of the elephant—the critically endangered species.
Mrs. Timmie Kumar, Managing Trustee, Help in Suffering, stated that many of the norms which were earlier enforced on elephant owners are being flouted and the jumbos are working long hours under extreme conditions. Despite a prohibition, iron ankush are being used to goad them.
So on August 30, 2009 employees and management of Clarks participated in a peace march, or rather a funeral procession organized by HIS around Albert Hall. The mourners held placards with messages: ‘ban the use of ankush’, ‘limit the number of elephant rides’, in an effort to sensitize one and all towards the apathy meted out to the mute animals. The yatra was followed by a play enacted by a group of students and Mr. Arjun Kumar, owner, 1589 Albert’s (restaurant), informing the crowd about what an elephant feels. Thereafter, Michael Jackson’s ‘Heal the World’ was sung aloud by everyone in an attempt to stand together in this protest against inhumanity.

Who Packed Your Parachute?
A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: "I am blind, please help." There were only a few coins in the hat.
A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.
Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy.
That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?"
The man said, "I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way."
What he had written was: "Today is a beautiful day and I cannot see it."
Do you think the first sign and the second sign were saying the same thing? Of course both signs told people the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?
The moral of the story is:
Be thankful for what you have. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively.
Invite others towards good with wisdom. Live life with no excuse and love with no regrets.
When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile. Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear. Keep the faith and drop the fear.
Great men say, "Life has to be an incessant process of repair and reconstruction, of discarding evil and developing goodness! In the journey of life, if you want to travel without fear, you must have the ticket of a good conscience."
The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling! And even more beautiful, is knowing that you are the reason behind it! |
