Perspective

Whenever we see rangoli or a classical dance performance, a street theater, a puppet show, a statue of Lord Buddha, a bandhani sari, a Phad painting, sarod vadan or the Amer Fort, we immediately identify them as Indian. But why? Because all these are unique to our country and are found only in India. They are a part of our rich culture and have come down to us from our forefathers. They give us a sense of belonging and reiterate our identity as Indians.

We generally begin any function, Programme or celebration with lighting the lamp. Since ancient times our ancestors have lit a lamp – morning and evening. Why? Because light depicts knowledge which keeps ignorance at bay. The flame of the lamp burns upwards, giving us a message to adopt and live up to high values in life.

We join our palms and greet ‘Namaskar or Namaste’. Which means ‘ I bow to you and welcome you; It signifies respect, friendship, humility and etiquettes. It acknowledges the presence of divinity in all we come in contact with. Namaskar is just one of the 5 formal ways of greeting others according to the shastras. When guests arrive, we do ‘Tilak’ on their forehead in between the brows, to welcome them respectfully. It escalates their ability to introspect providing inspiration to be religious and just in every endeavour, protecting them from all negativities. It keeps the mind cool and conserves body energy.

At Clarks, we follow the above-mentioned practices and many others in an attempt to preserve our living heritage and culture. If all make similar efforts as individuals, we can bequeath rich tradition and sense of aesthetics of which the future generations too would be proud of.

(Prof. Dr. Ishwar Modi is an internationally acclaimed Sociologist. He is the Vice-President of the Research Committee on International Tourism, and also the President of the Research Committee on Leisure of the International Sociological Association.)has expressed his view in a short interview with Mr. Deepak Sharma of Hotel Clarks Amer, Jaipur.

Q-1.What do you consider the key issues or problems of Western culture and Eastern Culture?
A-1. Like Eastern cultures, the Western culture is also undergoing metamorphosis under the impact of Globalization. It is not only the Eastern cultures which have been invaded by Western cultures but Western cultures are also following many a tenets of Eastern cultures. However, the biggest problem of the West is the breakdown of the family system which is still very strong in the East. Breaking of the family in West, which is already suffering from over individualism, is also a cause of further stresses and strains leading ultimately to the loneliness and alienation of the Western people.

Q-2.As we know India is a potential tourist destination but still we are well behind from other countries. What is the reason behind it?

A-2. All the stakeholders of the tourism industry, both in the private and the public domain, are well aware that inadequate and insufficient infrastructure and connectivity are the biggest bottlenecks of development of tourism in India in spite of everything it possess to attract a large number of tourists from all over the world. It has sand, snow and the seas coupled with thousands of years old strong multi-cultural heritage. But we have not yet learned to properly and effectively market it internationally.

Q-3.What infrastructure development or changes can be done in country to promote tourism?
A-3. The first and the foremost infrastructural developments that need to be addressed is the development of good roads and highways which can shorten the time of travels. Absence of international air connectivity is also a big hindrance in attracting international tourists to India. It must be expanded at a fast pace not only connecting the metropolitan centers but also the cities of the hinterland. Beautification and cleanliness of our decaying urban centers is equally important. So also may be said about the conservation and the maintenance of our heritage sites.

Q-4.What advise you would like to give young generation to make India as a dream country to work and live?
A-4. The young generation not only in India but in any part of the world plays the biggest role in shaping the destiny of a country. The role of the young generation in India is all the more crucial since India is still a developing country and it has to go a long way to catch up with the developed countries of the world. Inculcation of high moral values and determination to work sincerely and purposively is the core of making India the cherished place to work and live.

Q-5.
What is your take on current political system?
A-5. No better political system than democracy has evolved so far. As such we are lucky to be a part of a democratic political system in India. However, a fixed set of political elites can now no more deliver the goods. Infusion of a young generation, having new ideas and international exposure as well as understanding of the issues and problems of the large masses of people including that of the rural areas, into Indian politics alone can now salvage the current political system in India.

The HOD's this month are expressing their views on a very controversial topic, “Discrimination is good, at times.”

Discrimination is Good ,at time because it helps others to come up  to the level for  other to enhance  their performance if they lack it. Positivity and the will power help them to grow and reach heights for their life's.

Mr.Vaibhav Tandon, House keeping

To get the work done from a group of people with different set of mind frame & different working capacity is really a highly skilled job where different tactics are required at different time interval on set of people.

The above mentioned topic is required to attain the pace for those people who are lagging behind the leaders. Sometimes Discriminating the good performers and appraising low performers give them boost and work as a catalyst to them and hence the result is that medium/low performers starts or try to attain the pace as like high  performers in hope that the top bosses are evaluating their performance.

And hence the entire team starts attaining the pace ans so the departments result starts improving.

The evening was marked with a mesmerizing Odissi dance performance, which originated in the temples in 2nd century BC. The different dance sequence were dedicated to lord Jagannath Nayan Pathgami, ending with ‘Moksha.’Preserving our heritage and passing it from one generation to another so that tradition lives on…… is also how we case at Clarks!

Inspiration

Selflessness

A rich man said to his friend, "Why it is everyone is always criticizing me for being miserly. Everyone knows that I have made provision to leave everything I have, to charity, when I die?"

"Well," said his friend, "let me tell you about a story about the pig and the cow.”

The pig was complaining to the cow one day about how unpopular he was. "People are always talking about your gentleness and your kindness," said the pig. "You give milk and cream. But I give even more. I give bacon and ham. I give bristles and they even pickle my feet! Still no one likes me; I'm just a pig. Why is this?" The cow thought for a minute, and then said, "Well, maybe it's because I give while I'm still living.”

Let us remember that life is all about giving, and that is what will lead to ultimate satisfaction and happiness—others and ours!

(Book Review)

Title         : Going for the Record
Author    : Julie A. Swanson
Category: Inspirational

In contrast to the many novels in which the earlier deaths of parents, usually mothers, serve as narrative devices to leave teen protagonists on their own, this intense story portrays a father's death in painful detail, balanced with a sense of hope. During the summer before her senior year, narrator Leah is torn between her fierce commitment to soccer, at which she excels, and her need to help ...

More care for her dying father. Convincing relationships and character development emerge as Leah's father reveals his spiritual side, her mother finds strength in her Catholic faith, and Leah grows closer to both of them. The author doesn't flinch at describing the father's deteriorating condition and his pain, yet conveys the feeling that death approached with love and courage can strengthen a family. Religious elements including prayer, so often absent from YA works, blend in smoothly, while Leah's soccer games provide relief from the intensity at home. While readers will find the story emotionally challenging, those seeking an honest portrayal of death will find it here

There are a number of different types of lampshades, and numerous ways to categorize them. The most common type of lampshade is made of a wire frame covered with fabric or paper. The shape may be cylindrical, conical or square. Some wire frame lampshades are whimsically shaped or painted.

A style of lamp popular in the 1960s featured scenic painted lampshades that revolved around the light bulb, giving the illusion of movement.

Empire Lamp Shade a round shape lamp shade with straight sloped side. The shade slope is not exaggerated but rather at a traditional angle, the most common type of shade found.

Bell Lamp Shade The same as an empire lamp shade except the side is curved not straight.

Drum Lamp Shade a round shape lamp shade with straight side where the top and bottom diameter are near each other crating a near cylindrical or drum type of shape

Coolie Lamp Shade a round shape lamp shade with straight or curved sloped side. The shade slope is exaggerated due the top diameter being much smaller than the bottom diameter thus resembling a Chinese coolie hat.
